M103 isn't my issue at all with the CPC or the Bloc. My issue with the CPC is far more direct. Don't sit there and present bullshit condolences and have someone like Michael Cooper (who happens to be my MP) in the party. Don't offer condolences and pretend you give a shit about the Muslim community when you have spent the last 20+ years making sure we are "other" as opposed to intrinsic to the fabric of this country. Don't offer me condolences but participate in a campaign where your leader uses the term "old stock Canadians". Don't offer me condolences but hire comms people who make sure we are viewed as dangerous and appear in pseudo-media outlets that demonize Muslims in this country and lie about Sharia law. As for the Bloc, perhaps they need to look a little more carefully at the behavior of their provincial government before offering condolences.

Question: Do you think if there'd been a ruling against "Islamaphobia", that might have discouraged Harper and his friends from openly scapegoating Muslim Canadians? Or discouraged the odious Kellie Leach from her gross attempt? I think it might have - it might have given their opponents a clearer way to describe the racist tactic. It seems to me that Conservative Canada has openly flirted with or embraced this racism and then swung around to a deceitful position of "not exactly the right wording" - the lie being that the issue of racism and scapegoating is a concern at all. It is my impression that getting pedantic is often used to discourage progress, and that it's disingenuous. Open to hearing why I'm wrong.
