People seem more upset about the author than the fact several women were raped.

And here I was of the understanding that all projects were to go through a gender impact analysis.

The same Rempel Garner who complained that the PM should have locked down the border immediately, that she couldn't visit her mother-in-law in Oklahoma due to the "vultures at the CBC"? She has little or no credibility as far as I can tell. All she seems to do is criticize the current government in a period of crisis. Of course this likely keeps elected in her constituency in AB. It would be helpful to know what alternate plans she would suggest.

For sure one should always consider the source, and Rempel Garner is a member of the opposition, whose job is to criticize the government. But you also have to consider the credibility and quality of an argument, and she has here provided specific details of an utter failure in the government's duty of care. On the other side, the Trudeau Ministry has consistently either failed to follow through on its lofty aspirations or has followed through with exactly this sort of incompetent program delivery.

The silence from the legacy media on this situation could mean a few things, and they are not mutually exclusive:

1) The facts alleged by the accusers don't stand up to scrutiny;

2) The media are afraid to chase the stories because they fear it would offend those who agree with the hotel quarantine policy;

3) The media doesn't want to be seen as supporting someone like Rempel Garner.

4) [This list is not exhaustive!]

All of these reasons would be flipped on their head if an NDP or Liberal MP pointed out the risks to vulnerable individuals coming into the country. Is there a moral double standard at play here?

It’s Rempel’s job to criticize the government so I’m just not trusting this piece. Also dislike the assumption that women are inherently unsafe and automatic victims. The nice thing about The Line versus legacy press is that there’s no gaping maw that must be fed daily. I would have stayed away from this piece, especially given its overblown language.

I recognize that Ms Garner has a political role to fulfill but in my view, whether I agree with her party's policies or not, she makes a very valid point, one that is relevant across the political spectrum; Well-intentioned actions may have unintended consequences, so best not to make hasty decisions. I understand the rationale behind the Government's quarantine policy but it wasn't clearly and properly thought through.

Once again, Kurt Vonnegut has the last word...

With regrets, but based on Michelle Rempel-Garner's record, I don't accept her version of events or claims as accurate until they've been checked by an independent, reputable, qualified third-party. There's been too many lies and falsehoods, and too much disinformation to take Rempel-Garner at her word now.

Usually a Rempel fan, but this is a bit of an over reach. Especially since the majority support the quarantine.
